ChartLogic Receives EHR Certification for Meaningful Use Stage 2

Salt Lake City, March 15, 2013—ChartLogic announced today that the company has received 2014 ONC certification through the Drummond Group, which is required for meaningful use stage 2. ChartLogic was the first vendor in the nation to certify for meaningful use in 2010, and again leads the EHR market in re-certifying under the new standards determined by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC).

“We made a commitment to re-certify as soon as possible so our clients would be ready for 2014 in plenty of time,” said Zubin Emsley, CEO of ChartLogic.

ChartLogic 8.1 is 100 percent cloud based and offers the same superior voice technology users were previously only able to take full advantage of in a client-server environment. ChartLogic EHR is a complete EHR module, which comprises electronic medical records (EMR), practice management (PM), patient portal, patient education, and ePrescribe.

ChartLogic is recognized by ONC as one of the top vendors with successful client attestations. Specialists typically have a more difficult time qualifying for meaningful use, but a high percentage of ChartLogic clients have received payments for stage 1 meaningful use. “ChartLogic is dedicated to supporting the attestation efforts of all eligible providers. Our goal is to make meaningful use as efficient as possible for our customers,” said Chris Langehaug, SVP of operations at ChartLogic.

ChartLogic’s Stella Enables Physicians to Create EHR Documents on New Apple iPad

EHR overlay helps physicians meet MU stage 2 interoperability requirements

Salt Lake City — March 19, 2012 — ChartLogic’s new Stella application, an EHR overlay, can help hospitals meet the new Stage 2 Meaningful Use (MU) requirements by enabling physicians to easily create standardized continuity of care documents on the new Apple iPad.

“With its high resolution display and fast response, the new iPad becomes an even more valuable tool for displaying medical information, both text and images. As an EHR overlay, Stella enables physicians to view, create and transmit documents on iPads using their current hospital EHR system,” said Brad Melis, executive vice president, ChartLogic.

According to Brad Melis, “The new Stage 2 requirements place a major emphasis on interoperability. The ONC wants physicians to exchange documents using the CDA standards. The goal is to create digital documents that are readable by both physicians and computers.”

Melis said that because Stella works on top of all major EHRs, it will help hospitals meet several of the Stage 2 standards without having to buy a new electronic medical record system. For example, the new rules require hospitals and physicians to provide a summary of care record for more than 65 percent of transitions of care and referrals. Also, 10 percent of these transitions must be to a recipient with no organizational affiliation, using a different certified EHR vendor.

The Stella EHR overlay was demonstrated at the Health Story Project in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS12. A primary care physician and specialist created and exchanged transition-of-care documents using the new, consolidated clinical document architecture (CDA) standard.

With Stella, physicians can create and transmit CDA-standard documents on the iPad or PC through dictation, typing or touch screen entry. Stella uses Web-based, back-end speech recognition, removing the need for a separate client speech software application on a hospital’s PCs and devices. This is important for widespread adoption because many high-volume specialists prefer dictating notes to typing on a keyboard.

Stella can create documents from a variety of data feeds including CCD, CDA, HL7 and CCR. Stella can search archives for patient documents and generate notes from user-built templates. With Stella, prior patient history is always in view, improving physician productivity.

ChartLogic serves more than 2,000 pysicians nationwide. ChartLogic EHR is certified for meaningful use and more than 200 ChartLogic customers have qualified for incentive payments.

TriState Neurological Surgeons of Pennsylvania Selects ChartLogic EHR for Transition from Paper to Electronic Medical Records

Salt Lake City, March 1, 2012 – TriState Neurological Surgeons, based in Erie, PA, has selected the ChartLogic EHR Suite to assist the office in its transition from paper charts to an electronic medical health record system. The medical group, employing six physicians, five physician assistants and 18 administrative and support staff, is the largest neurosurgical practice in the tri-state area. Partnering with Saint Vincent Health Center, TriState Neurological Surgeons provide brain, spinal and neurological care.

The surgical group purchased the ChartLogic EHR Suite including the ChartLogic EMR (electronic medical record), ChartLogic Document Management, ChartLogic ePrescribe, and ChartLogic Patient Portal.
ChartLogic is a leading provider of EHR solutions to surgical specialists and serves more than 1,000 physicians nationwide, with 164 practices already qualifying for Meaningful Use and receiving incentive payments under the federal government’s HITECH Act.

According to TriState Neurological Surgeons office manager Mary Lynn Angelotti, the medical group physicians wanted an EHR that was easy to use and were impressed with ChartLogic’s PrecisionVoice dictation system. “We employ our own transcriptionists, but the Precision Voice system will make everyday charting easier and more accurate. This frees our transcriptionists to concentrate on longer narratives such as legal depositions and medical chart review reports,” said Angelotti.

“The transition from paper to electronic health records is always a major undertaking,” said Brad Melis, founder and executive vice president, ChartLogic. “TriState Neurological Surgeons is a very busy practice that will derive a huge benefit from an EMR. We view ourselves as their partners during this transition, and will work to ensure the process moves forward smoothly.”

ChartLogic, founded in 1994, serves more than 2,000 physicians nationwide. ChartLogic EHR is certified for meaningful use and more than 200 ChartLogic customers have qualified for incentive payments.

ChartLogic Launches Stella at HIMSS

New EHR overlay uses voice recognition technology similar to Apple’s Siri

Salt Lake City, February 16, 2012 — ChartLogic, a leading national provider of EHR systems, today announced Stella, a voice-recognition overlay compatible with all leading EHR systems. Utilizing the same type of cloud-based natural language processing (NLP) employed in Apple’s Siri, Stella can greatly speed workflow for physicians by enabling them to use iPads, iPhones and other mobile devices with their hospital’s EHR system.

Stella is being demonstrated at HIMSS 12 at ChartLogic’s booth #14024. Stella is also one of the key technologies selected for use in the Health Story Project, which is located in the HIMSS 12 Interoperability Showcase.

“Stella leverages the speed and ease-of-use of voice dictation, which is preferred by many physicians.
Stella allows physicians to dictate, type, or touch (iPad) to review and create clinical documentation. While including a dictation option, it goes much further, using NLP to understand medical terminology and voice commands,” said Brad Melis, founder and executive vice president, ChartLogic.

Stella allows physicians to “bring their own device.” Working as an overlay application, it provides access via mobile devices to hospital EHR systems without the need to replace or revamp the current system.

Melis noted that Stella will help medical groups meet the proposed interoperability standards for meaningful use. For example, Stella will facilitate documenting and transmitting clinical care documents because it is the first cloud-based EHR application that natively incorporates the new CDA (common document architecture) Level 2 standard. This helps meet the proposed meaningful use requirement that EHRs have the capability of producing human readable (and computable) documents.

ChartLogic serves more than 2,000 physicians nationwide. ChartLogic EHR is certified for meaningful use and more than 200 ChartLogic customers have qualified for incentive payments. For more information, visit www.chartlogic.com.
